Auditory Implant Service Clinic opening on 22nd June 2020 (with BSL)

As of Monday, 22nd June 2020, the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service will be open to see patients and families in our clinic, in line with government and NHS easing of restrictions.   We will have a limited number of patients in clinic to ensure that everyone is kept safe in the current circumstances.  We will send information on what to expect when you arrive with all appointment letters. COVID-19 Update – USAIS is accepting referrals (with BSL)

USAIS is accepting referrals for candidates for cochlear implantation or bone-conduction hearing instruments from NHS providers. We are pleased to say that we have been able to carry out some cochlear implant operations since the beginning of May.  Unfortunately our current waiting list for surgery is significantly longer than usual. Face coverings for patients

        One of our patients and staff members have been sewing face coverings which will help with lipreading.  Staff are also crocheting ear savers so the elastic on the masks doesn’t knock off any hearing devices behind the ear. These are NOT medical masks but can be used for personal use on transport, shops etc. They are washable at 60 degrees.
