COVID-19 restrictions are causing delays

                  Please be aware that there are significant delays in booking assessment appointments, scans and surgery slots at the present time due to the current COVID restrictions.  USAIS will contact patients when appointments and operation slots become available and the hospital will contact patients directly when scan dates are released. COVID-19 update 6th January 2021 (with BSL)

Following the government announcement on the 5 Jan, the Auditory Implant Service is still open for clinicians to see patients in clinic.   We are reviewing the appointments that have been booked and will be postponing some of them to ensure we remain COVID-safe during a time when the virus is highly transmittable. COVID-19 Update 3rd November 2020 (pre November 2020 Lockdown)

Following the most recent guidance from the Government, effective from Thursday 5 November for at least 4 weeks, we have reviewed our working practise to ensure that we will be complying with national restrictions.  USAIS is already implementing a maximally Covid-safe scenario with reduced activity, so we do not envisage any change at all in terms of how USAIS is running for the new lockdown, though of course we will keep this under review. COVID-19 Update October 2020

USAIS is currently running a limited service with an amended clinic timetable to ensure that we remain Covid-safe.  This means that we have set times when we are able to see patients so we can control how many people are in the waiting room at any one time.  We have a backlog of appointments, including upgrades that need to be booked which we are working through. COVID-19 Update – USAIS is accepting referrals (with BSL)

USAIS is accepting referrals for candidates for cochlear implantation or bone-conduction hearing instruments from NHS providers. We are pleased to say that we have been able to carry out some cochlear implant operations since the beginning of May.  Unfortunately our current waiting list for surgery is significantly longer than usual.
