You can take a processor to water but do not get it wet (or lost)

It’s lovely to be near water when it’s hot and sunny.  Beaches, rivers, water sprinklers, hoses, paddling pools are drawing people towards them and we love that our patients are enjoying themselves.

Unfortunately we have had a few processors either damaged and lost over the past few weeks near water, so here are a few reminders of things you can do to protect your processor.

  1. When wearing processors around water wear an Aqua Kit made specifically for your device)
  2. To stop your processor falling off wear a Snugfit for Cochlear devices (other manufacturers have similar devices)
  3. Young children might benefit from a Hearing Henry
  4. Put any equipment you have removed straight into a dry box

Please look after your processor.

If you have a query about any of these devices or products contact ais.repairs@soton.ac.uk for additional support.

A Snugfit will secure your processor so that it doesn’t fall or get knocked off
The Cochlear Aqua+ works with N7 and Kanso processors.
A Hearing Henry will secure a child’s processor and prevent it from getting lost
