MEDEL Counselling Service – Webinars for professionals who support CI Users

  Learn more about MED-EL UK's new counselling service which will support adults and families before, during and after their journey to hearing.  These events are for professionals who support Cochlear Implant Users. BEARS Virtual Reality research project in the news!

USAIS staff are involved in the BEARS Virtual Reality research project - both as a study site and as part of the national project. Christmas Closure Days at the University 2024

As people prepare for the festivities and bank holidays over the next couple of weeks, USAIS is preparing for the University Closure Days. The University is closing on 24th December this year, so the last day of normal service for USAIS will be Monday 23rd December 2024.  Normal service will be resumed on Thursday 2nd  January. National Grid Priority Service – charging your device

The National Grid Priority Services Register (PSR) provides extra help and additional support during a power cut for elderly, very ill or disabled people, or those who rely on power for medical equipment. This includes hearing aids and processors with a rechargeable battery. While power cuts can still happen, if you register, the National Grid will do everything they can to keep you connected. Patient parking permits to be abolished

From Monday 25th November, patients will no longer be required to display yellow parking permits when parking on the University site. The University has installed cameras and parking enforcement will be based on number plate recognition. Patients who enter their registration number on a tablet in USAIS reception will be able to park on the University campus, in all spaces except for the Pay and Display and Prebooked Parking. Is your N8 processor able to pair with your smartphone?

The N8 is the latest and most advanced over-the-ear processor from Cochlear.  It has the latest technology and should be able to pair with other devices, such as Smartphones, mini mics, the CR310 remote control and even your doorbell via Bluetooth. Cochlear have advised USAIS of an issue they have discovered with the pairing of some of the latest N8 processors.  The affected processors work well as hearing devices, but they won't allow Bluetooth paring.
