Remote microphone systems, auditory implants and speech testing

This course, in association with the Ewing Foundation, is for Teachers of the Deaf, Educational Audiologists and Technicians.

The course will provide information about remote microphone systems, fitting them, checking and assessing their benefit in line with national Quality Standards

What will the course cover?

Presentations:

  • Using remote microphone systems, including radio aids, with speech processors
  • What to fit and when?
  • Rationale for fitting, verification and validation of remote microphone systems (RMS)
  • Combining radio aids and soundfield systems

Workshops and group sessions:

  • Verification of speech processors with various remote microphones including Cochlear MiniMic2+, Phonak and Comfort Audio ear level and neck loop systems
  • Bone conduction hearing devices: checking and balancing RMS
  • Remote microphone systems and speech perception tests
  • Case studies, discussions and feedback sessions
