Op COURAGE – a specialist NHS service for the military

Op COURAGE is a specialist NHS service designed to help personnel who have left or are due to leave the military.

It has been developed by people with military experience, and the service helps veterans navigate physical injuries, psychological trauma,  mental health difficulties, and the transition back to civilian life.

Some of the services included are:

  • Specialised psychological therapies and clinical assessments tailored to military-related trauma and everyday mental health struggles.
  • Coordination with charities and local organisations for housing, financial advice, employment, and relationships.
  • A dedicated care pathway addressing co-occurring mental health and substance misuse issues.
  • Support for families who have been affected by a veteran’s mental health issues.

The service is available to anyone who has served in the UK Armed Forces for at least one full day, and can be accessed via GP or self-referral.
