Disruption on the university site
Our patients travel from far and wide to reach the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS). We are a regional service so patients come from as far away as Sussex, Berkshire and Dorset and will sometimes encounter delays to their journeys.
During the last month there have been water repair works on the University site and visitors arriving at the University Road end have had to drive through the university site and out the other side. Entering back onto site from Hartley Avenue. These works are not yet completed.
In addition to the water repair works, there are planned resurfacing works to Hartley Avenue and Sirdar Road, thus rear access to the University site will not be possible.
We have, therefore had to make special arrangements for our patients. From Monday 10th to Friday 14th August any patients arriving by car, will need to report to the site cabin situated near the library entrance, and then escorted across the site to our parking spaces.
Patients will have received either an email or text advising of these detailed arrangements.
From Monday 17th August 2026, all repair works on and around the Highfield University Campus will be complete.
