Be Heard by MEDEL in Southampton
“Care For You” Initiative in Southampton
Free support for patients on their journey to hearing
Brought to you by MED-EL UK & Ireland, through BeHeard by MED-EL in partnership with the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS)
MEDEL are offering these support days that provide counselling, practical guidance and an opportunity to meet those who have had a similar experience, your Hear Peers. These days are for:
- People considering a hearing implant
- Parents and caregivers
- Families looking for additional information, guidance and reassurance
- Existing MED-EL hearing implant users
BE HEARD by MEDEL – The right support for you
The counselling sessions are for anyone considering or supporting a hearing implant journey, including parents, family members and caregivers.
They provide a safe space to talk with an accredited therapist who has lived experience of hearing loss and is also a cochlear implant user. Having been through the hearing implant journey themselves, the therapist understands the questions, concerns and emotions that can arise.
- Group counselling: 90 minutes from 12pm
- One-to-one counselling: 45-minute appointments at 3pm, 4pm or 5pm
- One-to-one appointments are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
- We recommend signing up for more than one counselling session, if possible
