NIHR research into Early Parent Interaction in Deafness
Martina Curtin is funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) to create a new tool for parents and professionals: the E-PID – Early Parent Interaction in Deafness.
Martina wants to know how Speech and Language Therapists, Qualified Teachers of the Deaf and Clinical Psychologists assess parent-child interaction, with particular focus on how professionals observe parents’ interactions when they communicate with their deaf children aged 0-3. She is interested in all formal and informal methods. There are no right and wrong answers, but wants to know which parent behaviours and practices are important to professionals. The survey is quick to fill out, with text boxes kept to an absolute minimum. All responses are anonymous.
