Holiday Tips and a Webinar 28th June 2025: Travelling with your processor
There is almost nothing you cannot do once you have a processor. The list of what you cannot do is very short. However, many of the things you can do, will be stress free with a little thought and preparation.
REMEMBER SPARE PARTS AND PROCESSORS CANNOT BE SENT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY
- Take spares – power supplies vary so charging can take longer, so take your spare battery, keep it charged or take disposable batteries and the battery holder. Take any other parts that might break.
- Take dry bricks – If you are going to a hot country sweat may be an issue. You don’t have to take the big dry box. You can take a smaller tin or sealed plastic box and put in some Cedis bricks. Ask the repairs team if you would like these sent out to you before you go.
- Take precautions – there is likely to be water so take active wear and use it to protect the processor. Also take additional clips and use them to make sure the processor stays on and is not lost.
- Check your app – most apps have a “Find my Processor” option. Make sure you understand how it works.
- Travel ID cards – when travelling by plane, it may be useful to have a card that explains to security officials about the Cochlear Implant. These cards are available in other languages.
- Have a plan – what will you do if you need replacements whilst you are away?
- Holiday loaners – your manufacturers can lend you a spare processor whilst you are away. See our Spares and Repairs page for contact information.
