Help children with hearing loss become confident readers and writers

Learning to read and write is a key milestone in every child’s development. For children with hearing loss, this process might present unique challenges—but with the right tools and support, every child can thrive.

Families play a central role by encouraging communication, reading together, and creating language-rich environments. Hearing technology, such as cochlear implants, can further enhance language access and literacy outcomes. Combined with effective strategies and encouragement, children with hearing loss can grow into confident readers and writers, reaching their full potential alongside their peers.

Diana Zegg is a Rehabilitation Specialist at MEDEL.  She will be hosting a Webinar on 24th January 2026.

Diana holds a Master’s in Education for Children with Hearing Impairment from the University of Birmingham, UK.

She has extensive experience working with children with hearing loss in educational settings and, for many years, has been part of MED‑EL’s Rehabilitation Department—developing global resources, enhancing communication outcomes, and providing professional training worldwide.
