Shared learning at ESPCI 2023 conference

The European Symposium on Paediatric Cochlear Implantation (ESPCI) in 2023 was held in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, last week. 1,500 cochlear implant clinicians from around the world shared their knowledge in one fabulous venue. Is music an option for Cochlear Implant users?

USAIS patients will often ask whether they will be able to enjoy music after their operation.  USAIS' Dr Mary Grasmeder did develop a music programme to support patients with their hearing development and enjoyment of life and hosted training sessions around this.  You can read more about this here. USAIS ENT Nurse has arrived

We are so excited!  Sally Churcher is an ENT Nurse and is the latest addition to a brilliant team of people supporting our patients across the South of England. Sally is pictured above in our clinic room, Turtle, where she will be based, usually in the mornings, from Monday through to Thursday.  Sally will be supporting the BCHI Service as well as cochlear implant patients, for a short while following their operations.  When I asked her about her role she said. Ready STEADI Chat – pre-school sessions with Dorset Health Service

Dorset Health service are offering drop-In sessions.  These are pre-bookable sessions for parents/carers who have concerns about their child’s speech, language and/or communication development. You will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns with a Speech and Language Therapist. Assisted Southampton Walk – Sunday 12th March

On Sunday 12th March See Southampton will be hosting an Assisted Tour of Southampton Parks.  The Guide will take walkers from Southampton Art Gallery, through the parks and streets, ending at God's House Tower near Town Quay. The walk is suitable for Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter users, Assistance Dogs are welcome and the tour guide will have a hearing loop system.
