Patient parking permits to be abolished

From Monday 25th November, patients will no longer be required to display yellow parking permits when parking on the University site. The University has installed cameras and parking enforcement will be based on number plate recognition. Patients who enter their registration number on a tablet in USAIS reception will be able to park on the University campus, in all spaces except for the Pay and Display and Prebooked Parking. Is your N8 processor able to pair with your smartphone?

The N8 is the latest and most advanced over-the-ear processor from Cochlear.  It has the latest technology and should be able to pair with other devices, such as Smartphones, mini mics, the CR310 remote control and even your doorbell via Bluetooth. Cochlear have advised USAIS of an issue they have discovered with the pairing of some of the latest N8 processors.  The affected processors work well as hearing devices, but they won't allow Bluetooth paring. USAIS Appointments

The number of appointments hosted by USAIS increased to over 9,000 during the period from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024.  Hannah Turner is our in-house BSL interpreter and she attended the majority of those appointments that required this support.  Sometimes, we need to book and pay for BSL and Language interpreters to support the patients who need this. Sign Language App for South West Trains

An app immediately translating train announcements into British Sign Language has been launched. South Western Railway is trialling Signapse, which uses AI generated images to deliver information to deaf passengers. The trial is currently running on services between Basingstoke, London, Salisbury and Exeter, with hopes to extend the initiative. Developers hope the app will make train journeys less stressful and plans to introduce the app in all public places. Continue reading →
