Cochlear Implants: The Basics – FREE Online Training

We are delighted to announce the launch of our Online Training Portal. The free to use resource is available to anyone with an interest in cochlear implants; whether you are supporting someone in an educational setting or care home, have a cochlear implant yourself or simply have an interest in the technology. The content has been based on our hugely successful training course Cochlear Implants: The Basics and is an excellent introduction to the topic, or alternative for people unable to attend a training course held at the Auditory Implant Service.

The course is structured in five core parts. You can work your way through these in order or select the most appropriate areas for you. If you complete the entire course and corresponding knowledge checks then you will be able to download a certificate as proof of your professional development.

  1. How does Normal Hearing work?
  2. What is a Cochlear Implant?
  3. Optimising the Listening Environment
  4. Troubleshooting Equipment
  5. Supporting children in the classroom (Pre-school, Primary, Secondary) or Supporting an adult implant user
